Xin County is our raw materials and production site. In this area, there are more mountains than farmland. High altitude along with the clean air and abundant water create the perfect conditions for Camellia trees to thrive. Our philosophy is centered on local production. Local production is necessary for optimal freshness and purity, to modernize camellia oil production, and support the farmers economically. The most important aspect is that we are working together with the farmers that have lived here for over 25 generations that treat camellia trees like natural treasures and take care of the forests in which they grow.

ShanCha® Inc. and the farmers are well connected. In October 2015, Jin and three others went to Xin County and visited the camellia oil production site. They talked to the local farmers and visited the cold press line our parent company built. They learned every step of the extraction process. Afterwards, they went to Dingli Bay.

Xin County is located within the triangle of three provinces. The climate is similar to southern climates but also has some northern climate characteristics. The architecture is very distinguishable and the people have their own lifestyle that merges cultures from nearby areas, but is unique in its own way.

The old village has colors that range from green to black with white lime connecting the bricks. There is a pond in front of the clutter of houses. The village blends in with the mountains and the water; it's truly a picture of harmony between nature and humans.

Nowadays, Dingli Bay is known as a ‘national ancient village’. Their unique culture and rich natural products attracts many people that seek the traditional way of living. A few years ago, people in Dingli Bay pulled together their resources and created a cultural tourism group. Now, there is a campground and a cafe that only uses local organic products. They attract many people that live in cities but still believe in natural living and sustainability. The group takes the tourists to visit the farmers and buy organic products harvested directly from the farmers’ land.

The group is not very big, but has provided jobs to over one hundred people. Many that were forced to seek jobs outside came back home for jobs. The ancient village is beginning to shine bright again with livelihood. All these developments are linked to the modernization of camellia oil production.
