On April 27th, 2017, a ShanCha® Membership Exclusive Salon with the theme “Joyous and Delectable” was held at the ShanCha® Club in Manhattan, New York. More than 40 guests were invited for this unique experience.

Stepping into the ShanCha® Club, one immediately sensed its traditional and unadorned style as well as the sensation of spring in the air.

The main dish of “Joyous and Delectable” salon is Japanese fine cuisine. Japanese cuisine is known for healthiness, superior aesthetic and craftsmanship: perfectly in tune with the ShanCha® vision of healthy living.

Wild Warm Mushroom Salad, Yellowtail Jalapeno，Avocado Seabass, Hokkaido Bay Scallops, Teeka Foie Gras... The renowned chef from the famous Japanese restaurant in New York “New Ichiro Sushi” led his team making classic Japanese dishes one after another with camellia oil, live on the spot.

The event distinctively offered a taste appraisal section for guests to personally experience the difference of camellia oil: by individually cooking the same dish with camellia oil and another oil. The guests were quite interested in this demonstration and allowed themselves to assume the role of a connoisseur. It was amazing to see that the same verdict was reached by so many that: Camellia oil not only tasted lighter, but enhanced the original flavour of the food.

Camellia oil has a long history of over 23 centuries that reflects the radiance and beauty of Chinese traditional culture. Twenty-five years old Liupao black tea tastes mild, elegant, unadorned and refreshing… 

“Three Stanzas of Plum-Blossoms” ,“Homeward Bound I Go,” the strings of the Chinese zither vividly depict the towering mountains and flowing water, the music in the room lingering...

The guests followed the wonderful tune to the tea table beside the lute table. The Chinese zither sounded distant and profound. The rhythm quickened suddenly, then for a while slowed down, however it was always enchanting. The scent of the tea was light, yet travelled far, and soothed the minds of all who were present.

The guests quickly shifted from curiosity to captivation. Quietly sitting down, tasting fine food made with camellia oil, drinking clear and rich black tea, and listening to the beautiful music - a truly relaxing moment.
