"Beneath the Same Tree" Charity Event Held in Harvard Club

On the evening of July 18, 2017, ShanCha Inc.'s public charity event "Beneath the Same Tree" was successfully held at the Harvard Club in New York, with nearly 200 guests in attendance.

The president of Lingrui Group, China, Mr. Weizheng Xiong；Mr. Charles W. Sullivan, distributor of the Chinese traditional medicine company Tong Ren Tang in the United States; film artist Christine Chou; Worldf-amous choreographer and contemporary dance artist Mr. Wei Shen; candidate of New York Comptroller Mr. Michele Faulkner and renowned director and singer Ms. Yanqiu Li attended this event to offer their support.

Mr. Weizheng Xiong gave the opening speech. He said that there is a special meaning behind our theme“Beneath the Same Tree”! Lingrui Group introduced camellia oil to the US because of two core beliefs：

Appreciation and Return: As the only listed company in the Dabie Mountains of China, the long standing headquarters of Lingrui Group remains in the same location, to propel the development of local enterprises and help improve the living conditions of locals. Amidst the many projects, the production and development of a local specialty--wild camellia--has created a myriad of employment opportunities and encouraged many able-bodied migrant workers to return home and reunite with their families.

Sharing Health Concept: When compared to olive oil, camellia oil is much healthier because it contains more of the crucial nutrients required by our bodies. Camellia oil is not only healthy edible oil, but also natural beauty oil. It possesses a special characteristic that olive oil does not: under high cooking temperatures, the nutrients in the food remain unharmed. By promoting oil with superior health benefits, we can make the world a much healthier place!

ShanCha Inc.’s old friend Mr. Charles W. Sullivan shared the story about how he discovered camellia oil and his own personal experience of using it in the kitchen. In particular, he expressed his support of ShanCha Inc.’s market expansion into the United States as well as public charity activities. Mr. Sullivan also presented a check to ShanCha Inc.’s staff on site to become a member of the ShanCha Club.

The charming and talented singer Ms. Yanqiu Li made a special trip from China to New York to perform the theme song for our event: Beneath the Same Tree.

This song was written by renowned Chinese song writer Mr. Xing Che and composer Mr. Li Hu who have produced countless classic works. They have offered their tireless support to the charitable causeof camellia tree protection conducted by Lingrui Group and ShanCha Inc. so much so that they were willing to tailor a theme song for this event and created a high quality master tape on very short notice.

The heart-touching lyrics and rhythm, the devoted interpretation of the song, the innocent smiles of the children displayed on the big screen moved all in attendance.

ShanCha Inc. launched“Join the Trip & Lend Your Compassion” program in mid-April to call on people to give their love and strength, claim the mountain forest and protect a heavenly treasure. ShanCha Inc. hopes for people to contribute their aid, to establish an unbreakable bond with the mountain forests, to let camellia be our guardian angels and live for all eternity, to make sure poverty and desolation no longer exist, to uncover and explore hidden treasures, and to spur migrant workers to return to their families.

Tonight’s event marked the kick off of this program. To awaken the protection of the millennium legend of camellia tree, and make it last an eternity for the sake of our health. To raise awareness for the camellia forests in Xin County, hoping that the prosperity 

of the camellia industry can help migrants return home. Left-behind children and the elderly should be alone no longer.

The music started again, the big screen playing the the mevideo. All guests held their breath, focusing on the mountains and water, the quiet village, the beautiful trees and the friendly villagers of Xin County. They were thrilled by the flow of expression and their eyes were full of emotions. 

When the video was set on the final page, the ShanCha logo, the scene was so solemn that the guests seemed to be immersed in the atmosphere created by the 4-minute film.

"The past and future of camellia oil", which was the door prize section, was a lively and interesting component throughout the whole night. All the guests competed to answer the questions, although all the 7 questions were challenging. Each question was swiftly and correctly answered, and one of them had even been answered by two guests simultaneously! Because camellia oil is such a new concept and product in the United States, it’s nice to have such a result which strongly supports the efforts of ShanCha Inc. in entering the US market and educating consumers.

The whole event lasted two hours. In the spirit of charity, it designed and combined several exciting sections with music, art, and food to keep guests entertained during the program. 

ShanCha Inc. provided bread and salad with bread dipping and salad dressing which were specially made with our wild and extra virgin camellia oil to let the guests explore and experience the 

product. People are packed with full appetites in front of the tasting table complimenting the fresh and light taste. They were curious about the oil and showed a great interest in our brand and our health butler service.

The display of wooden containers and pure camellia oil gave the skincare SPA table a strong natural atmosphere. Guests washed their hands in the round wooden basin and wiped them dry. Then they used a tiny and exquisite wooden spoon to take a small amount of camellia oil, dripped on the skin. Lastly, they gently massaged the area to help the oil be absorbed, which makes guests sincerely praise the magical effect of camellia oil rendering their hands silky and smooth with no grease at all. Even some of the men couldn’t help putting it on their hands and spoke highly about the results! 

Many of them said it would be the perfect gift for their significant others!

The handmade soaps also caught the attention of guests during the event with its wood-pulp and classic Eastern packaging. Guests praised it for its elegance and artisan craftsmanship, as well as its environmental friendliness. The soap itself has a lovely shape, a pleasant light fragrance, and a natural texture. All the exhibitions were emptied by guests. All in all, everything in the SPA section was presented in a beautiful and attractive manner, making it one of the many highlights of the evening.

On the Chinese culture table, the mud dogs sand wood cuts were displayed prominently. The tea-green colored notebook with paper made of camellia attracted the most attention. Guests were in love with them and simply couldn't put them down! We knew this was a very tiny platform to show Chinese elements and cultures, but even guests from China were able to obtain a deeper understanding of Henan folk and camellia culture through the exhibitions. Who knew that one little table could contribute so much to the cultural connotation of the event!

Xin County native photography works present the magnificent beauty of the county. People stopped in front of the pictures to admire the beauty of camellia and local customs. They were eager to know the story behind each photo.

With applause, PAL (The Police Athletic League) junior choir came to the stage. They performed You are Worth Waiting", "Unrealistic Dreams" and "Save the World." The sweet songs led the audience to a climactic applause.

PAL is an organization associated with many police departments across the US. It is New York City's largest independent non-profit youth development organization; many of the activities provided by the organization focus on adolescent self-enrichment, education, and leadership training to help children build strong character. This choir volunteered to perform for ShanCha & Friends Harvard Club Event to help children in the east. In the coming August, they will represent the United States in the annual Dance Festival held in Beijing.We wish them the best of luck!

By the end of the event, the wishing tree had many gold ribbons entrusted with blessings from guests. The big screen announced a new online public charity–“Plant a Camellia Tree Sow the Seed of Love”launching to convey the message of hope.
